Centre of Prevention of Lifestyle Diseases

of The Institute of Applied Health and Social Sciences

The Centre of Prevention of Lifestyle Diseases has been providing its services since 2006. The services provided empathetic support regarding healthy life style, healthy population and prevention of modern diseases. In 2014, the centre was relocated from the Hospital closer to the centre of the town, to Nerudova Street 53, extending and innovating its services.

It also offered new services pertaining to nutritional consultation and services by a personal trainer for fitness training. The Centre also offers modern devices like Bodystat, a broad range of aids for fitness exercise, as well as a measurement of triglycerides or lactate from capillary blood. By interconnecting the services of health consulting, nutrition consultant and fitness training consultant, it offers efficient counselling for lifestyle changes for clients. Comprehensive consulting and the prices of the services provided, constitute the two main arguments for people of different age groups to have their health condition checked and based on the values measured, to then communicate with experts on how to preserve or improve their health.

The Faculty employees have rich experiences also derived from many measurements organized within many events. This would include an event on the main town square during International Nurses’ Day, or another event at the JU campus involving teaching Nordic Walking or during different events with a focus on sports, culture or entertainment. Measuring blood pressure, cholesterol or body fat is very much in demanded by seniors. However, with increasing public education, there are increasingly more middle-aged and young people, and parents with children which also constitute a significant target group.
