One of the research objectives of the laboratory is the study and preparation of thin functional layers using low-temperature plasma. These are layers with a thickness of about 100 nm, which significantly affect surface properties without any change or damage to the base material. Typical examples are hardened mechanical protective layers, electrically conductive or insulating surfaces, semiconductor structures, photoactive films, and others. In addition to this spectrum, the laboratory has been focusing on the research of modern nanostructured materials for bio-technological applications and sensor technology in recent years. This is the application of active layers that can build up more complex molecules. Such materials can then be applied either in detection systems or serve as carriers of bound bioactive substances.
