Signal and Image Processing Laboratory
The main goal of the laboratory is the processing and analysis of discretized signals and images, mainly from biological (biochemical, biophysical) measurements. The focus is on mass spectrometry, in tandem with liquid or gas chromatography, microscopic measurements including fluorescence and phase contrast. An integral part is the description of the measurement process itself from the point of view of measurement theory, representation of basic measurement attributes, and data formats.
The laboratory provides service activities for single-purpose tasks, implementation of custom solutions, and cooperation with other laboratories of the Institute of Complex Systems.
Commercial activities
The laboratory offers services in the area of developing software solutions for image processing and analysis based on questions formulated by non-experts. This is a specialized solution directly according to customer requirements. The laboratory also provides development of systems for capturing and analyzing the behavior of aquatic organisms in small aquariums and large tanks (mainly fish and crayfish).

Key activities:
- data format conversion
- color space transformation
- digital camera calibration
- image segmentation
- mathematical morphology operations
- noise filtering
- color change evaluation
- development of systems for capturing moving objects
